Known as Lost Vikings 2: Norse by Norsewest outside of the United States, Norse by Norse West is a graphically upgraded version of The Lost Vikings 2 for the SNES from 1994. Once again, the Vikings have been abducted by aliens. After defeating a robot guard during a power outage, the Vikings outfit themselves with robot parts to gain new abilities: Erik the Swift has turbo boots that allow him to jump higher, Baleog the Fierce trades his bow and arrow for a bionic arm that can extend to attack from a distance, and Olaf the Stout can shrink to get through small gaps. The Vikings are eventually joined by two new allies: a werewolf named Fang, and a dragon named Scorch. Only three playable characters appear in each level and, as before, the goal is to get all three of them to the exit. The SNES version featured sprite-based graphics like the original The Lost Vikings, but Beam Software created 32-bit enhanced graphics and added voice to the PC, Saturn, and PlayStation ports in 1997, when the game was renamed. Other than the graphics upgrade, the humor, level design, and gameplay style remain. A pre-release demo was released for DOS and Windows 95. The Windows 95 demo will only run in a 256 color or 16-bit video mode (setting "Run in 256 colors" in Compatibility settings will suffice), and the demo will probably crash as soon a voice attempts to play, even when run in Compatibility Mode. It may be necessary to turn Speech off in the Options menu in order to play the Windows 95 demo on a modern version of Windows. There are 31 levels in this game, with only 3 levels playable in the shareware demo.
