Well, as a matter of fact it did exactly that once to me, when I installed a version that was on the Merchant Prince 2 CD my friend game to me on my Win95 machine. Apparently, that version was too recent to be supported by Win95, so after installing I'd get a BSOD every time I'd boot the system. Luckily, I got hold of a Win98 CD quickly and installed that, so everything worked out fine, but at first I thought I unwittingly ruined my PC (I didn't have much experience back then, but this incident helped me learn some useful stuff - the hard way ).
