I remember playing an artillery variant with tanks with a friend once - that was rather long ago! I'm not sure if it's this particular game or another, I think that one had VGA graphics that were really nice For all I know, it might very well have been Tank Wars.

It could also be Scorched Earth. The two games are virtually identical, from the weapons to the death animations to the environmental damage, and many of the same configurable settings.

Hmm, Scorched Earth looks more like it, but my memory of the game is quite a bit dizzy, so I'm not sure.
