The version on this site is v4.00 of Space Chase, according to HELPME.DOC and that's also what the game says when you exit it. But after unpacking STORM1.EXE with UNP or something else, and then looking inside it with a hex editor, it says it's version 2.15D.
Too bad it's not in a zip.

There's also a playable demo with one level of Space Chase. I don't know whether that level is also in the shareware or registered version of the game.

Apparently the level had been made specifically for the purposes of the demo.

The game itself seems to have been quite heavily inspired by Apogee shareware platformers, most noticeably Duke Nukem and, to a lesser extent, Bio Menace. The graphics are kinda nice, especially the backgrounds, but some monsters are outright ridiculous. This isn't much of a problem though, but the controls and some game play design decisions leave much to be desired. Combining limited ammo with indestructible enemies and enemies that you can't hit if you stand on the same elevation as them isn't the best idea IMO, and the game tends to quickly get tedious if not frustrating. Luckily you can save it at any point on the level, but here's also a source of annoyance as you need to quit to the main menu to load a saved game (that, or I didn't figure out how to do a quick-load).
