Hello. I'm a girl and I know nothing about any of this stuff. My boyfriend used the D-Fend DOS emulator to install an old game for me to play. The game is called El-Fish. It's an awesome game and the emulator runs it perfectly. The trouble I am having is that in order to make my own graphics for the game I need the converter utility that comes with the game files. It's a file called PCONVERT.EXE -- but for some reason the emulator is not running it for me. The screen just closes and nothing happens. If I try to access the file from windows, I get this message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running..."

Does anyone know about this game? Or what I might need to do to get the utility that comes with this game to work?

You need to specify how you run the converter programme (what exactly you do) from DOSBox. Most probably a frontend like D-Fend is not supposed to run an auxiliary tool for a game.

Otherwise, Wikipedia gives a link to a fan site of El-Fish (I'm not linking to it because it houses and unauthorized download of the game), maybe you'll find relevant information there.

Indeed. D-Fend isn't an emulator, but a frontend (a GUI) for the DOSBox emulator. It's very likely that DOSBox can run that program, but DOSBox is command line driven, so you need to learn how to use it. D-Fend makes it easy to launch a specific program in DOSBox, but it's not as flexible. You may need to learn how to use DOSBox without D-Fend for this one. We have a tutorial here.
