One of the neatest little games till Id came back with Doom. But still fun to play! I know one of the secrect Doom levels in Doom one or two you ended up in one of the Wolfenstien levels shooting Nazi guards  .
Excellent!

First 3d first person shooter what i did play. (or right after ken's labyrinth, cant remember actually). Also first 3d fps i did pass.

Very addictive, graphics were amazing back then. I love this one. 7 points + 1 point "DOS extra" :)
Something funny should read here?

Wolfenstein (all 6 episodes) was finished by me about a year ago.

I don't like much this than the other games, starting right from the colour and then the graphics, to my opinion.

Of course, saved very frequently and then played the game.

A pressure as there are multiple split ups along the path.
Plus, it is a shooting game which I don't like it up much at all.

I will give a rating of 6 to this game, to it up, only so...
as there are many games much better than this game at all, only so!
To give a rating of 7.

Awesome game that was responsible for popularizing the FPS genre. Graphics are pretty good for 1992. Level design is not too bad but gets a little confusing sometimes due to lack to variety in wall textures (the major flaw of this game), so it helps to get the cheap-o (I got mine for 2 bucks) hint guide from Apogee which also has some cool trivia about the making of the game. Still fun to play from time to time.

A while ago I found this gameplay video, which shows a censored DOS shareware version:

No idea if it is available anywhere. This was apparently intended for a release in Germany.

[Edit] Seems like it's an unofficial patch, as explained here.

When reading the Wolfenstein 3-D version history at Litude's Apogee Information Vault, this little note caught my attention:
Version 1.1 (1992-06-01)
<...>
Graphical changes:
  • The knife graphic has changed so as to show you with covered instead of bare hands
  • The pistol graphic has changed so as to show you with covered instead of bare hands
Was BJ originally running around naked I wondered, as I had never before played v1.0. When I got around to checking this version out it was immediately obvious that BJ's hands are not bare:

Apparently, BJ's wearing the same uniform as the guards (presumably got it off the guard he had overpowered prior to the start of the game). I'm guessing that this might have been a leftover from the development phase that still included stealth elements. This was most probably changed because the uniform serves no purpose in the final game as the guards see through this "disguise", and also to make the in-game appearance consistent with BJ's portrayal on the title screen, the story screens and the victory screen.
