Hello, I've gone through many different sites. I'm going crazy trying to re-discover a game I played as a child (80's). I'm not certain it was a DOS game, we did have a Ti99 and a Commodore 64 at one point in time. Anyway here is what I remember about the game, please let me know if you know the title/platform.

1. It was multiplayer (up to 3 or 4 I believe)
2. The game used very few colors, and very basic shapes.
3. It was risk-like, the screen would draw random (gods eye view) islands of each players color
4. There were people, horses, boats, and I think weapons that the players could use (kind of a medieval theme).
5. I think the gameplay was turn based. You would attack bordering territories, or if you were awesome and had a boat, you could attack remotely.
6. The goal was to spread your color (total domination?).
7. I probably played this in the mid to late 80's.

The answer is Lords of Conquest for the C64!
Dear Steve,

This answer was supplied by Tyler Van Tighem BTW. Let me know if he got it right.
