I had this game which I enjoyed. Not as much as Doom but it is well made. I got stuck in the third level in a courtyard, :x but it worth having for sure! :D

I enjoy it as Heretic and not a doom clone since day 1. Same engine sure, but it's like comparing oranges and apples

I did play this when it was somehow new back then but to say, i think its only a cheap copy of Doom with different (and stupid) weapons. Didnt like it at all back then, i tried it some time ago again and didnt like it any more now.

Totally agreed. Heretic is a great game that doesn't quite compare to Doom except for the tech. But it's still quite good (the graphics/design are great) and came as a breath of fresh air to me. Succesfully incorporates some RPG elements such as an inventory.

BTW There's an earlier shareware beta version that was also publically released 2 days before the initial shareware release. Other than that I don't know what the filename is

I'm pretty sure this is it. It's not very interesting though, it's mostly identical to the shareware version.
