vdmsound is overrated it's not the grand messiah of getting games to work. and never was

I like it. It's nice to be able to just right click on a program from Explorer and have full SoundBlaster support. It's just a bit of a time saver compared to opening DOSBox or a DOSBox front-end. Unfortunately, I believe VDMSound doesn't work in Vista, since it only emulates the SoundBlaster and depends on NTVDM.exe to emulate the "real mode" memory model that DOS needs.

It's a whole hell of a lot faster than Dosbox, that's for sure. Too bad it isn't being maintained anymore.

That's the benefit of only having to emulate the sound card. I understand that VDMSound was used for the SoundBlaster emulation in DOSBox, at least initially. Definitely a shame that this project seems to be dormant.
Today entirely the maniac there is no excuse with the article.
