There's definitely a demo floating about, with just the Fantasy table.

The Heretic and Hexen source code are released under the GNU GPL v2 finally. [Added to the site]

Yeah, read about that this morning. Took 'em long enough.

Chasm: The Rift could be a candidate too, for the 3D Shooters section, developed by Action Forms Ltd., released in October 1997 by GT Interactive (Atari).

There are 3 demos I know of:
- The September 1996 test demo with 3 weapons and 3 monsters
- The Mid-97 single player/dm demo with 5 weapons and 3 levels
- The early-98 deathmatch-only demo with all weapons, and its data unpacked (officially, as file dates tend to go back to even 1994)

The engine is more like a ROTT-like for maps (90 degree walls) with 3d models decorating the level, and 3d monsters and weapons, as well as lighting. One of the game's main highlights was the dismemberment (you could shoot arms and heads off of any monster, for example)

I remember that one. Pretty awesome game. In fact, I think I actually registered it back in the day.

That's good news. I'm a bit embarrassed that it took me so long to find the new archives. It's kind of nice that they're released as separate 400k files instead of one 800k file, though I suppose most people will probably download them both.

This would be a great addition for
https://www.classicdosgames.com/publishe ... man_Lives!

http://jlounge.classicgaming.gamespy.co ... Khaine.zip

180 levels for Jumpman Lives!

Described here:
http://jlounge.classicgaming.gamespy.com/oldnews.html
http://jlounge.classicgaming.gamespy.com/resources.html

"18 December 2001 - Khaine has been kind enough to allow the Jumpman Lounge to host a copy of his fantastic Jumpman Lives! level packs. These have been on Lon Matero's Apogee Page for a little while and are well worth downloading. There are a total of 18 level packs (10 levels each) - download them on the Resources page or just click here (174 K). They are all top quality - some of them are complete genius. The screenshot below is Grand Maze 2, from Level Pack 5.

Below is another screenshot of one of the levels from Khaine's great Jumpman Lives! level packs. I know I said it last time but these levels packs are just excellent. Get them from the new-and-improved Jumpman Lounge Resources page."

I remember when these were first uploaded over seven years ago - they slammed into the Jumpman community like a meteor. It was like an expansion pack vastly superior to the original game just came out of nowhere - the Jumpman Lives! equivalent of Final DOOM. I think it definitely belongs in the Jumpman Lives! section of this site listed above.

User-generated addons do not qualify as official files. If that were the case on this site, we'd see the 3D Shooter page filled with thousands of addons for Doom and Quake alone

It wouldn't hurt to link to it, though. Looks cool.

I noticed you changed it back to 'Classic DOS Games'. I actually fell for this, at first, because I think that would actually be a rather suitable change. With the Win16 games you've been adding, etc. The Steve Jobs "interview" was pretty funny, like the Bill Gates one you did last year. Good one.

Surprised nobody else commented on this stuff. :-)

I was actually planning to go bigger with the joke than I did, but I was just too busy. I could easily have added 5 or 10 great Win9x games that are nostalgic to DOS gamers. People have been asking me to add Balls of Steel to the site for years.

I have no objection to moving in that direction, but it becomes harder to justify calling the site Classic DOS Games if I add games for Win9x.

At least Balls of Steel started as a DOS game called Arcade Pinball.

An older Hexen demo, the 4 level beta demo from October 4. No time limit, and asks to be distributed. Not a repack - it is the original archive. [Added to the site]

WinTrek (1994, ditto, also this one was released freeware with source code)
Okay, I'm going to need a little help here. There are MANY games called WinTrek. The version I uploaded was from TSoft, which apparently isn't the version you remembered. I've also located copies from Joseph Jaworski and BFM Software (Brett McDonald).

it's the Jaworski one I've mentioned.
