For the sake of clarity, my post wasn't directed at you or your religious beliefs (although the relevance of your ranting to the topic of discussion escapes me).

Re: SourceForge introduces adware into installers (?)

I'd read something about this practice somewhere before, but wasn't aware of it affecting quite so many (prominent) projects. That's pretty low, leeching off other people's work that way. But I guess "it's a money world".

Re: Powerslave EX beta released

I vaguely recall playing a demo version of this, many years ago, when I was trying to find all the BUILD engine games. From what I remember, it wasn't the worst of the bunch - that "honor" would likely go to Extreme Paintbrawl - but rather generic and dull. Cool effort though, this "remake". Reminds...

Re: Doom

Funny that people would still discuss DOS ports of the game, which hasn't been very relevant for almost two decades now. In the meantime it has been ported to just about everything else imaginable and, since we have DOSBox now, you might as well just play the original using that? I mean, if you want...

Re: 3D Realms are back! (well, kind of)

For those who missed it and might be interested, the 3DR Anthology is up on Steam now . It does not include the Keen or Wolfenstein titles though, instead you get Xenophage, Dark Ages and Balls of Steel. Re: Rise of the Triad Remake by Interceptor Entertainment

Ugh, that looks terrible. I see that they kept some of the mechanics, but it doesn't "feel" like ROTT at all. I especially dislike the heavy metal soundtrack, so cheesy.

DOSGuy wrote:So, what do you folks thing about Kroz? Is it one game with seven episodes, or three games (Original Trilogy, Super Trilogy, and The Lost Adventures of Kroz), or seven games?
I look at it as 3 games myself (OT, ST, LAOK).

Re: More freeware releases from 3D Realms / Apogee archives!

As far as I know, it's still free to share. Joe Siegler never mentioned anything about it being a limited-time offer only. Anyway, nevermind my request, I've located a copy of the release in my archives.

Re: More freeware releases from 3D Realms / Apogee archives!

Sorry about the thread necromancy, but does somebody have a mirror for the Kroz freeware release? The file doesn't seem to be hosted on 3drealms.com anymore.

I played a fair amount of Chex Quest as a kid. This should be a fun nostalgia trip. Thanks!
