Sonic 3D Blast (known as Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island in Europe) is an isometic platform game in the familiar Sonic universe. Originally for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Sega Saturn, the PC version is port of the Saturn version. As usual, Sonic can run, spin dash, and jump on Doctor Robotnik's robotic bad guys, releasing the gentle animal within. This time, Doctor Robotnik has discovered birds called "flickies" that can travel anywhere using large rings, and has roboticized them to search for the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic must release the flickies and get them to follow him so that he can travel through the rings to advance through each zone. The usual power-ups are present, as well as the basic gameplay premise that Sonic can collect rings, which he loses when he takes a hit, and he can be killed when he has no rings. Only Green Grove Stage 1 is playable in the shareware demo.
