Planetfall  1994
DOS Shareware (partial game)
Developed by Infocom
Published by Activision
Genre: Interactive Fiction
User rating: 0.0 (0 votes)
Planetfall is a science fiction comedy interactive fiction game. Originally released for DOS, Apple II, and as a PC boot loader, Planetfall was ported to almost every home computer system of its era, like most games that use the Z-machine interpreter. The hero is an Ensign Seventh Class of the Stellar Patrol, serving aboard the SPS Feinstein. The player must ultimately solve the mystery of what happened to the inhabitants of a planet he becomes shipwrecked on. Planetfall was the first Infocom game to make extensive use of "red herrings", teasing players with useless items and pointless locations. It became one of Infocom's best selling games, and one of five to be re-released as a "Solid Gold" version.
