MDK is third-person shooter that was noted for its innovative gameplay. Giant "minecrawlers" have covered the Earth and are sucking the resources out of the planet. Each level is divided into arenas, where battles are fought and puzzles must be solved. The protagonist, Kurt, has a special suit equipped with an arm-mounted chain gun, a helmet with a sniper scope, and a reusable parachute. Gameplay involves close quarters combat and sharp shooting, as well as problem solving. Dr. Hawkins assists Kurt by dropping items for him to use, suchs as grenades and tiny nuclear weapons. The game refuses to run unless it detects a Pentium processor, but no special graphics hardware or software is necessary. There are 6 levels in this game, with only the first level playable in the shareware demo.
