same game version 1.11e by Hirohata in English by Ozawa

Post by jonbon36 »

I am using windows 7. I play one of your ms dos games Battle of Atlantis and love it.

Now I would like to know if you all can download same game for windows version 1.11e by Hirohata and revised in English by Ozawa?

I have tried and tried to download this and no matter how I try, zip file, dis file, lzh file and all kinds of files I cannot download this game even though my computer has 64 bit.

Can you educate me on how to download it without any problems or can YOU all put it on YOIR web site with Battle of Atlantis?

Thanking you in advance

I know that the "same game" isn't available for Windows because Soleau Software didn't make a Windows version. They did make Isle Wars Pro, though.

Are you saying that someone made a Windows game called "Battle for Atlantis"? Have you tried just playing the DOS version in DOSBox?

Wow, the game is actually called Same Game! That was confusing.

Okay, so I understand your problem: you want to run a 16-bit Windows game on a 64-bit version of Windows. DOSBox can't run Windows software directly, but you can run a copy of Windows 3.1 in DOSBox. You're going to have to run some version of Windows in an emulator or virtualization suite (DOSBox, Bochs, QEMU, VirtualBox, VMWare, Virtual PC, etc.). The only other option I can think of is to use Linux and run the game with Wine. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other free software that can run Windows software without a copy of Windows.

ReactOS doesn't run 16-bit Windows software, so that won't work for this game. I haven't been able to get any Win9x games from the site running properly in ReactOS either, but there is a small list of software (mostly applications and utilities) that work under ReactOS.

Is the WinXP SP3 which is included with Microsoft Virtual PC capable of running 16-bit apps by the way?

We've answered your question. It is simply not possible to run 16-bit Windows software in a 64-bit version of Windows. You will have to run the game from within a 16 or 32-bit version of Windows in an emulator or virtualization suite. DOSBox can run Windows 3.1 just fine. If you want to run this game in a copy of Windows 95/98/Me/XP, I recommend VirtualBox, but Bochs, QEMU, VMWare and VirtualPC will also work. That's the answer. I'm sorry if those options don't work for you.

I thank you for the answer. I haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about BUT I sent it to my friend that has a degree in Computer Science and HE will tackle the problem. Thank you again for all your help. IF he gets it to work I will let you know how HE did it......
