Will do. Speaking of that, I just contacted an author of In Pursuit of Greed and asked if he could and would be willing to release the source, and he said I was welcome to the code if he could find it. I will keep you updated if and when he finds it.

No problem Mr. Flibble! He think he knows where the code is located, but he's having trouble accessing the server at the moment. He thinks he'll have the problem solved within the coming week. I personally used to enjoy Greed quite a bit. Did you know that the engine is based on a pre-alpha version of Doom?

No, that's completely new information to me. Was that version of the engine licensed or reverse-engineered when id wasn't looking?

I don't know the exact details, but apparently id had to give the code of a pre-alpha version of the Doom engine to Softdisk to avoid a lawsuit, and they in turn gave it to Mind Shear Software (ex Channel 7). I suspect it might be the same, or a similar version of the engine that also was the base for Shadowcaster, seeing that those two game engines seem to share a similar feature set (e.g. slopes but orthogonal walls etc.) and the data files seem to be pretty similar, with a quick look in Slade 3. Try comparing Greed's .BLO files with SC's .DAT files to see what I meen.

That is very interesting information! I think In Pursuit of Greed isn't actually mentioned anywhere as an id Tech game.

Was a while since I posted here, unfortunatly I don't really have an update to this. I never got any reply to the last mail I sent to him back in March. He did tell me that I was the first person to ask him about In Pursuit of Greed, everyone else just asked about Ironseed. If anyone else wants to contact him about In Pursuit of Greed, you can find his e-mail adress on Ironseed's website (ironseed.com).

Thanks for bringing all this up! I noticed a demo earlier on one of those FairPlay/SharePlay CDs and tried it a bit. The game is a very decent classic platform thing, pretty nice.

I wonder if the author will allow hosting it at the site here.

I've found out that a Wing Commander fan site was apparently given permission to make the first Wing Commander game available for download exclusivly at their website in 2010 for its 20th anniversary. I'm not sure if I can post the website link since I'm not sure myself that it's completly legal. Does anyone else know anything of this situation?

I haven't heard about this before but it sounds like it could have been a temporary promotion. Does the site still offer the game for download? If yes, have you tried contacting the staff for clarification?

The site does indeed still offer the download. The website says that it's specifically the same version that was distributed 10 years Before on a PC Gamer coverdisk that's free to download and that it's not allowed to be distributed by any other sites nor Magazines. I can try to Contact the staff for clarification. I could also PM you the link to the website so you also can check it out yourself.
