Re: Notable game findings with Hallfiry's coverdisk catalogue

BTW, what's Egeling? Is that a German shareware distributor?

The same CD also seems to have an early release of Charly the Clown:

Re: Notable game findings with Hallfiry's coverdisk catalogue

Tbh, I have no idea where I got my image of the CD back in the day, but I have one on my external harddrive that is named "1995-09_Disc_10.iso" and is 659.761.152 bytes in size. But indeed, the PC Gamer CDs at archive.org tend to be quite corrupted (I guess they don't like them before ripping them....

Re: Notable game findings with Hallfiry's coverdisk catalogue

Also, it unpacked fine for me and I could play it. Are you talking about the PC Games #10 ISO at archive.org, or the zip file I linked to? because I both tried viewing the ISO's contents via archive.org's built-in viewer system and downloaded the whole image (and then tried IsoBuster to extract the...

Re: Pie in the Sky

Apparently the old GCS demo which was mentioned at the Pie in the Sky's website was a one-level demo called Meltdown . <...> [Edit] Here's the earlier version: MELTDOWN.ZIP It turns out that this is an incomplete archive, here's the whole thing: GCSDEMO.ZIP (yeah, it was at cd.textfiles all along).

Re: Notable game findings with Hallfiry's coverdisk catalogue

Here's an original installer of some Pie in the Sky Software's 3D Game Creation System release: http://www.kultcds.com/Catalog/index.php?n=3032&f=$2FGcs Judging by the date stamps (June 1995), it was released way after the early Meltdown demo (which came out in March 1995) but before Industrial Kill...

Re: Thread where I drop thoughts

Considering the secret nature of Rotwelsch, may I ask, do you know if the words that you have so aptly called "phonies" were 1) intentionally "corrupted" by the speakers themselves, or 2) unintentionally corrupted by speakers who were German and did not realise that the words are Yiddish, or 3) misu...

Re: Files that need replacement

Earthworm Jim File to replace: ewj_1.zip Reason for replacement: Playmates interactive distributed a demo package for its Earthworm Jim 1 & 2: The Whole Can O' Worms release, which included DOS demo versions for both games. The file is called ewjpc.zip. Apparently, some third party broke this file ...

Re: Non-interactive demo versions and screenshot packs

I've just been browsing the contents of coverdisks that came with the SCORE magazine using Hallfiry 's catalogue and found a bunch of pre-release screenshots from Ruins: Return of the Gods : http://i.imgur.com/UNAH3EC.png http://i.imgur.com/TN1Gkf7.png http://i.imgur.com/CiT2hMj.png http://i.imgur.c...

Some more shots can be found here (not sure if they're pre-release or not though): http://web.archive.org/web/19991110102755/http://doomgate.gamers.org/games/strife/screens.html I've just realised that this page is still available online, with all shots intact: http://gamers.org/games/strife/screen...
