Re: Reconstruction of Interplay FTP demo area

I changed the Carmageddon demo link, as the file I linked to previously (carmdemo.zip) appears to be an earlier version distributed by Sales Curve Interactive. It's smaller in size and does not mention Interplay in the supplied readme file.

Re: Space flying simulator games

It appears that the Wing Commander III demo, which tends to crash during the start-up machine speed test, can be made to work by running the test at below 8,000 cycles, as described here.

Re: Non-interactive demo versions and screenshot packs

Lots of screenshots from early LucasArts' Star Wars games (X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Rebel Assault 1 & 2) can be found here:
http://www.lucasarts.com/images/sw/

Curiously most of them seem to be not used on any of the pages at the site which were archived.

Re: Seriously?

Well, to be fair, RGB Classic Games is on the top of my classic games list that I've posted in numerous places, including here, so it's not like it is completely obscure or I withheld information about it.

Re: Files that need replacement

Alone in the Dark File to replace: alondark.zip (demo with slideshow) Replace with: alone.zip Reason for replacement: the current ZIP is not an original distribution and includes three third-party files. The original Interplay demo file includes an installer, and is also dated 16 December 1992 (15 ...

The Terminator: Future Shock Demo v0.142: shockdem.zip This is v0.142, which was released only a few hours before the already known v0.144. The only file different between these two releases is SHOCK.EXE. Apparently some kind of bug was discovered shortly after the release of v0.142 which prompted ...

However, he following version of Wolfenstein 3D apparently started to get widely accessible even in 1992, and may even be considered another "semi legitimate" sh...

Re: Running Mac games on a PC

Recently I discovered LairWare's shareware Macintosh port of Ultima III , and it runs fine in Executor, even in DOSBox: http://i.imgur.com/xxzrOpg.png I've tested this with v1.3 available from the archived copy of Lairware's website . The port features high-resolution graphics, animation and sound e...
