Re: Gazillionaire

I used to play this game a lot. I even bought the registered version off the self years ago, having found the box while looking around a junky mall toy store randomly. It was cheap at that time. The game is extremely unfair, but fun despite that. I lost my taste for it, but I still know a fair bit a...

Re: Chomp for Windows

You can actually play version 1.2 normally in windows, if you fiddle with 1 windows file after setting the game's Animation Delay to 999. Once it's set to 999 in the game, go to Start>Run, and paste this into the box: %windir%\win.ini Go to the end of it, and you'll find: [Chomp] Delay=999 Change it...

Re: Command & Conquer

Thanks for the info. I may even make use of it out eventually. I'm not severely interested in this style of game. For a freeware game, I think it's a nice diversion. Beyond the fact of it being different from what I'm used to playing, I can't say it would motivate me to buy, or even pirate the newer...

Re: Command & Conquer

It's listed as freeware on the main site. I just figured I'd put together all the data needed to run the free version, DOS or not. It's still essentially the same game, even if it does have improvements, so I figured I'd take some of the guesswork out of getting it to run for those who aren't aware ...

Re: Command & Conquer

I found the game to be OK. I found the most fun method of playing for me was trying to mess with strategies that broke game mechanics without explicitly cheating somehow. I'd say it's quite worth the download and the update procedure. I'm sure it would make an even better multiplayer environment, bu...

Re: Slam!

I was looking through the source a bit more, and found out there actually IS a way to change the number of points before the game ends. Open the file "C:\windows\wslam.ini" after running and closing wslam.exe at least once. At the end of the file, make a new line, and put this there: PointsToWin=11 ...

Re: Caves of Thor

Thanks. That makes sense now.

I'm still new to certain control codes, so I didn't know what the number really translated into.

Re: Caves of Thor

Took me a bit of studying to find it, but this appears to be a cheat available in Caves of Thor: During the Demo, after you start playing, you can either load a saved game with "C", or you can start a new game with a lot of power by pressing the "$" key(Shift+4). Unfortunately, you can't reload the ...

Re: "Former Shareware"/Abandonware: Serials/Hacks needed?

I didn't see anything that looked like a nag screen in that version. I can't read german to any degree, but if you find it, the size of the EXE looks about right to be able to get rid of it.

All I got were missing-CD errors, I think.

"Former Shareware"/Abandonware: Serials/Hacks needed?

I recently got rather interested in working on Windows 3.1/DOS Shareware apps that can be registered. Keygens, program hacks, calculations and the like seem to be providing me with some interesting stuff to try, and to learn. Now, the issue of making registration codes for just any antiquated softwa...

Re: Kye

Run the game with the perameter 'digger' to prevent the game from displaying the startup dialog.

Re: Slam!

I used to play Slam! a fair amount, so I decided that instead of hacking the EXE, I'd decode the registration routine. I found it to be quite an interesting system. Working Registration Codes: 0004400531700101 4040010531000071 1212414271771111 Creating More Codes: A successful registration code is a...
